Volkswagen aims to electrify all the visitors of the Geneva International Motor Show with the full eco version of the current Golf. Called the e-Golf, the new electric compact car from Wolfsburg highlights an 115 HP electric engine with an instant torque of 270 Nm. This setup allows this EV to hit 100 km/h in 11.8 seconds and a top speed of 135 km/h.

The Li-Ion battery installed beneath the back seats has a capacity of 26.7 kWh which provides this car a range of up to 175 kilometers. The battery can be charged from a home socket in about five hours and boasts a weight of 250 kg.

The fans of the German car maker will be pleased to find that behind the wheel of the new e-Golf they are offered to choose one of the three driving modules available: Eco, Normal and Range. While Normal gives you full access of the car performances, in Eco mode the top speed is limited to 120 km/h and in the Range mode the electronic speed limiter lowers it to 95 km/h and the air conditioning system is deactivated.

This year’s edition of the Geneva International Motor Show will be open between 7th and 17th of March. Volkswagen will officially show for the first time their brand new electric Golf, considering the fact that last summer 20 e-Golf units have been tested in California.
