Speed, show, pure electricity and top auto technology. Here is what the environmentally friendly Formula 1 fans will see at the Spark Racing Technology stand during the Frankfurt International Motor Show.

On the 10th of September the world’s first Formula E racer – Spark-Renault SRT_01E will be unveiled there. The racing car has a carbon fiber and aluminium chassis and an electric engine powered by McLaren that unleashes up to 270 HP on the track. The powertrain will be limited to 180 HP during the races due to the FIA regulations, yet a Push-to-Pass system will unleash its full potential for short bursts.

The single seater racer can sprint to 100 km/h in about three seconds and hits an electronically limited top speed of 225 km/h.

Spark Racing Technology and Renault will build 42 SRT_01E racers for the first Formula E season.

The first race of the FIA Formula E Championship will start in 2014, with ten teams that line-up 20 drivers and 40 cars. Each e-Prix will take place on urban circuits from 10 cities around the globe. Each track will have a lenght of 2.5 – 3 kilometers.
